Use:
Yolk colour is one of the main criteria used by the consumer to judge the quality of eggs.
Depending on geographical location, culture and tradition, there are specific perceptions as
to what constitutes a good, healthy, appetizing colour. However, it is certainly true that
consumers in most parts of the world prefer golden-yellow yolks. Eggs are also used in the
manufacture of pasta, bakery products, sauces etc., and they should be able to impart a
pleasant colour to such foods. Hence, both the food industry and consumers prefer wellcoloured
yolks. addin carotenoids (Canthaxanthin) in the feed of laying hens could help to improve the
colour and nutrition of egg yolk.
Dose:
Canthaxanthin could be used in fodder for layer hen, egg yolk could get the uniformity pigmentation effect
after 10 days. The diet level could be adjusted according to the requirement of the yolk colour.
Normal recommendation level:
Canthaxanthin10% : 25~40g/Mt , could get 12-13 RYCF (COLOUR FAN) Score

Product Feature
Description
ApoEplus®10% consists of orange-red, free-flowing beadlets. Each individual beadlet contains
apocarotenoic ester in a starch coated organic matrix of polysaccharides which is protected by
antioxidants - ascorbyl palmitate and ethoxyquin.
Apocarotenoic ester is considered as a naturally occurring metabolite in animal tissues. It also exists as
a metabolic product of apocarotinal in citrus fruits, green vegetables and lucerne. Apocarotenoic ester
shows antioxidant properties and has a positive impact on the immune system.
Apocarotenoic ester is a yellow carotenoid and widely used in the feed industry as an additive for
offering yellow pigmentation of egg yolk and poultry skin. It is a highly potent yellow colourant available
to poultry industry. In comparison to yellow xanthophylls from plants, apocarotenoic ester is in a high
bioavailability form and has a higher deposition rate in egg yolk and poultry skin.
ApoEplus®10% is the product of choice for the feed industry. The high purity apocarotenoic ester is
finely emulsified with antioxidants and dispersed evenly in a protective * fine emulsion of
apocarotenoic ester allows an optimum absorption of the carotenoid in the digestive tract resulting in a
higher deposition rate in target sites. The product is manufactured by the spray-dried coating
technology and the use of antioxidants protects the conjugated double bond structure of the
apocarotenoic ester molecule from oxidative decomposition when exposed to air, heat and humidity.
The protective matrix is based on GMO-free polysaccharides and provides full protection against
physical constrains occurring with high-speed mixer or during pelleting or extruding of feed.
Main benefits of the stabilized matrix during feed production
The new active matrix confers unique physical properties to carotenoids with the following advantages
during the feed manufacturing process:
1. Handling of a free-flowing, fine micro-granular and dust
free powder form.
2. Mixing of a matrix with stronger hardness which is less
subject to abrasive mechanical forces that is
responsible for the loss of active substances.
3. During conditioning and pelleting, the matrix is less
subject to shear forces and injection of steam during
pelleting or extruding processes.
4. Distribution of a homogenous fine granular powder for
even product potency in the feed.
5. Stability of the carotenoids with improved integrity
characteristics for a sustained release and absorption in
the digestive tract.
