In 1989, the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) set up the Animal Breeding Centre (ABC) at Salon in Rae Bareli district of Uttar Pradesh with the objective of developing genetically superior milch breeds, thereby contributing to raising per animal productivity.
Since its foundation, the ABC has progressed from simple breeding of genetically superior Holstein-Friesian, Jersey and crossbred bulls for National Cross Breeding Programmes to pursuing its mission by using advanced breeding technologies like Multiple Ovulation and Embryo Transfer.
'A' Grade Certificate
ABC produces and supplies top quality frozen semen and fodder seeds. Its facilities include Frozen Semen Production Station, Cattle Feed Plant, Bye-Pass Protein Feed Plants, Liquid Nitrogen bulk storage T ...ank and a mechanized Fodder Farm. Presently, about 4 million frozen semen doses are produced annually, making it the largest semen production center in northern India.
ABC got ISO 9001:2000 certification for production, processing and supply of FSDs. The Central Monitoring Committee constituted by the Government of India has awarded 'A' Grade to ABC consecutively for last two evaluation periods i.e. for last four years. Read more
