Our company is a market-oriented organisation primarily for the improvement of animal health and safety of animal products. Veterinary specialists provide farmers and veterinary practitioners with assistance and advice not only for the fight against infectious diseases but also regarding aspects of animal husbandry and animal welfare. GD was founded in 1919 by and for farmers, with the objective of preventing and eradicating animal diseases. GD was a foundation until 2000. In 2000 GD was converted into a private company.
We have a large diagnostic laboratory which has been accredited by the Dutch Accreditation Board (RvA) based on NEN-EN-ISO 17025 since 1993. Our employees are versatile specialists in the fields of pathology, microbiology, chemistry and toxicology. Our laboratory has ...180 employees. The laboratory staff is supported by other veterinary experts in chemistry, microbiology and pathology, with a PHD degree in a relevant specialism. This ensures state-of-the-art techniques and methods. The experts also contribute to projects and consultancy.
Our mission is to supply knowledge on animals and their quality characteristics in relation to their health and the production of safe food. As an independent organisation we provide our services to the industry, governments, the primary sector, laboratories and veterinarians. Read more
